Nordic ACCESS, KTH and TKK

Näsby Slott, Täby (Sweden), October 1-2, 2009

KTH and TKK

KTH and TKK (from January 1, 2010 to be part of Aalto University) are two of Scandinavia's largest technical universities.

They share strong traditions in computer science, electrical engineering and networking, tied to the important ICT industries in the two countries. 2009 is the bicentennial of an important year in the relations between Sweden and Finland, commemorated inter alia by the joint session of the two governments in Hämenlinna (Tavastehus); the communique of that joint session also touched upon research collaboration. KTH and TKK are both involved in a large recent application to European Institute of Technology (EIT), and are also partners in educational efforts such as Erasmus Mundus programs, as well as many shorter-term research projects.

ACCESS - largest in networking

KTH ACCESS Linnaeus Centre is Sweden's largest research effort in networking and related areas (funded 2006-2015), with the overall goal of developing fundamental understanding and engineering principles for designing self-managed and scalable communication networks in which applications may share real-time information and cooperate in an efficient, affordable, and reliable manner.

For more information, see the ACCESS web site.

Strenghten KTH-TKK collaborations

As part of its mission, ACCESS aims to strengthen international collaboration, inclusing with TKK. The concrete objectives of the October 1-2 meeting are:

  • To make the network of contacts between KTH and TKK researchers in the general area of networks more complete (more all-to-all).
  • To hear about exciting science from all sides.
  • To hear something about the plans for a KIC in EIT.
  • To hear something about the plans of the Aalto Foundation in the direction of Scandinavian collaboration.

As organizers of this event, we are grateful for your participation, and wish for a fruitful, friendly and stimulating meeting.

All very welcome!
